Fashion City York is a city wide initiative created to drive footfall into the city, and support the local economy. With a steering group made up of local business owners who are passionate about businesses and fashion, FCY works with local retailers and creatives to celebrate all that York has to offer.

NIMA joined the FCY Steering group in 2016, when the group were working towards an annual 2 day event. After collaborating with the team, we put together a new strategy to turn FCY into more of a year round support system and a showcase of the city. As part of the showcase, we would create a big annual event, with the first being Six Days of Style.
Step one on this project was a rebrand of FCY itself. A new logo, stylish new website, and new literature that would bring FCY in line with current fashion trends. And then all of our focus was on Six Days of Style. NIMA created the programme, curated the events calendar, collaborated with businesses to confirm their involvement, and managed all social media and marketing efforts for the six-day long event.
The event was so successful that plans then went into place to replace the annual event with the first official York Fashion Week, which we launched in 2018. This event has now become a project of its own, which you can read more about HERE. Our work with Fashion City York is ongoing however, and we continue work to ensure that this becomes a useful platform to local businesses and creatives. They use this platform to promote their events, showcase their work and speak directly to an audience that loves and supports fashion.
Social Media Marketing
"NIMA came on board this year to take over the marketing strategy and branding for Fashion City York. Nicky Hayer has done a fabulous job. The rebranding of the logo and website have attracted a lot of very positive feedback. Nicky also looks after the publicity and social media platforms for the event as well as producing a glossy brochure to promote our event York Six Days of Style in April.
Nicky has a great “can do” attitude and really gets under the skin of the project. Fashion City York has benefited enormously from the relationship with NIMA and we look forward to working with them next year on York Fashion Week!"
